Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, demons, and dark forces increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of characters who will branch out from the main group to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might appear unsuited, but the events of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then settled his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the group access areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Seekers and Schemers groups.
Fans can anticipate learning which players will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
