In a unexpected collaboration that challenges usual predictions, the game developer has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Adventure Revealed

According to the formal statement, "A mysterious confrontation pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where rumors of forbidden rituals and fearsome metamorphoses reverberate through the darkness." The plot features a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a secret cult.

The adventure concentrates on "bizarre trials and a terrifying enemy" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Familiar Locations and Transformations

The trailer features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser ends with a striking scene showing a character, presumably the captive, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Extra Material

Players who finish the adventure will receive an exclusive katana in addition to multiple objects secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

Latest Free Story Content

This patch also brings the game's latest complimentary story content, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Anime Collaborations

This represents not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime franchises. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that clearly nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
